LONDON - Luxury label Burberry Prorsum has dazzled its catwalk audience with a show packed with rich metallic leathers and shiny foil fabrics.
Models wore a series of iridescent body suits, plastic capes, satin corsets and feather dresses, and in the finale marched out in a rainbow of metallic trench coats.
Creative director Christopher Bailey said Monday he wanted the new collection to be "a little bit sassy, sexier and more playful."
The luxurious colours and flamboyant designs contrast with the company's financial situation. Last week, Burberry shares slumped after it surprised markets with a profit warning. The report also sent stock prices for a host of other luxury retailers sharply down.
Asked about the sales slowdown, Bailey said: "You have to be optimistic and think long-term."
